Julia understands that reaching out for help can feel scary and believes everybody deserves to live a meaningful and fulfilling life! Julia is an empathetic and attentive listener who strives to make her clients feel safe and at home.
Julia applies an integrative, trauma-informed, and client-centred approach to meet individualized needs and goals. While she utilizes various techniques and modalities, developing a safe, non-judgmental, and trusting therapeutic relationship is her primary value. Some therapeutic modalities she uses include but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), Emotion-Focused, Mindfulness-Based (MB-CBT), Play, Somatic, Client-Centred, Solution-Focused, Acceptance & Commitment (ACT), Strength-Based, Narrative Elements, CBT-I, and Psychodynamic.
Julia has over 20 years of dance/movement experience in the performing arts and teaching. She is passionate about the mind, body, and spiritual connection as trauma is stored in the body. When appropriate, she enjoys exploring movement-based techniques and utilizing humour in sessions. Some of her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, perfectionism, body positivity, self-esteem, relationship issues, family dynamics, trauma, setting boundaries, couples work, sleep concerns, geriatric cognitive work, children and play therapy, emotional regulation, and ADHD.
